Just
after Christmas of 2004, a tangled web of hospital human
errors almost killed Lester, a dear friend of Tim and
his wife Suzette. For Tim, hearing the unfolding of the
unbelievable series of events brought him to a defining
moment.
Up to this time, Tim had achieved tremendous success at
minimizing human error, especially within the commercial
nuclear power field. He knew there was a great need to
expand these efforts. Mistakes were happening and they
needed to stop. What happened to Lester helped push Tim
over the edge. He is now a man on a mission. |

The
insights you provide, coupled with your genuineness
as a person, is a combination that is quite rare.
-Brenda Jordan, Director, Training and Staff Development,
University of North Carolina
Tims greatest gift is his ability to connect
with his audiences. He simplifies this complex field with
humor and keen insight, making it not only easily understandable
but
fun. He identifies issues and nails them. His personal challenge
to any organization? Give me 30 minutes with your team
and I can tell you your greatest cause of mistakes.
The
insights that you provided to our Board and Medical Executive
Committee at the retreat in March have further opened the
door toward a true team spirit amongst the whole staff.
-C. Mark Gregson, CEO- Mesa General Hospital
Tims official
internship occurred with the United States Navy, where he
spent more than a year of his life underwater aboard the USS
Ohio (the first Trident nuclear submarine). This opportunity
provided Tim with an incredible platform from which to study
human behavior- what held people, what propelled people, and
what prompted excellent (or not so excellent) behaviors.
For the past 24 years,
Tim has been both a student and a pioneer of human performance
enhancement and human error reduction. A few of his significant
accomplishments have included:
 |
A key member of the management
team that orchestrated the fastest plant performance turnaround
ever achieved within the commercial nuclear power industry |
 |
Designing and deploying a human
error reduction campaign that resulted in an 800% reduction
in human error within a 600-person organization in a single
operating cycle! |
 |
Author of a Human
Performance Tools handbook that takes complex
error reduction strategies and distills them into simple
tools to be used by everyone. Tims handbook has
been adapted worldwide by such companies as Entergy, Constellation
Energy, Florida Power and Light, and General Electric.
|
Since 1995, Tim Autrey has put his expertise
on human behavior and human error reduction to work within
many of the worlds largest organizations. Some of these
organizations have included:
